During a week-long externship with Studio Luz, a fantastic design firm located in the expanding Seaport District of Boston, MA, I was assigned to a single-family residential project located in a neighborhood of diverse housing types and demographics. Given the CAD drawings, I built the digital model and represented the project through rendered views. The process became a great collaborative experience as I was able to model several potential solutions to areas that were unresolved. The exterior materials, sustainably harvested ipe decking and a fiberglass panel, were important aspects of the project, as were the continuous vertical window strips. Each of the four sides is treated differently based on its cardinal direction. A central stair partitions an open-concept interior spatial layout, leading up to an inhabitable roof.
